What Is De-Chroming & Why Does It Matter?
De-chroming — also called chrome delete or chrome blackout — is the process of covering or replacing factory chrome trim with a high-quality vinyl film or powder-coat finish. The result is a cleaner, more aggressive aesthetic that brings your vehicle in line with modern stealth and blacked-out design trends.
At Luxury Tinting we use precision-cut, manufacturer-backed vinyl films applied by our expert technicians. Every panel is wrapped to the factory edge — no gaps, no lifting, no bubbles. The transformation is dramatic; the finish is immaculate.
Stealth Aesthetic
Replace factory chrome with matte black, gloss black, satin, brushed metal or any colour finish — no chrome glare, just pure purpose.
Factory-Precision Fit
Every piece is computer-cut to the exact profile of your vehicle — every curve, channel and edge covered without cutting on the car.
Fully Reversible
Vinyl de-chroming leaves factory chrome untouched underneath — remove or change the wrap at any time with zero damage to paintwork or trim.

Our De-Chrome Process
A professional installation from start to finish.
-
Trim Inspection
We inspect all chrome trim pieces for damage or previous work. Any pieces that may affect fitment are flagged before we begin.
-
Decontamination
Each trim piece is cleaned and decontaminated with IPA solution to ensure the vinyl adheres properly and lasts the full duration.
-
Vinyl Preparation
Film is precision-cut to the exact profile of each trim piece using digital cutting templates plotted to your vehicle specification.
-
Application
Vinyl is carefully applied to each trim piece, using heat to conform the film to all curves and recesses for a factory-fresh finish.
-
Final Inspection
Each trim piece is inspected for edge lift, bubbles or contamination before the vehicle is handed back.

Frequently Asked Questions
We can cover virtually all exterior chrome trim including window surrounds, door handles, grilles, badging, boot trim, mirror caps and roof rails.
Wrapping is generally preferred as it is fully reversible and does not require the trim to be removed. Painting is permanent and can devalue the car if poorly executed.
Most vehicles can be completed in a full day. Complex vehicles with extensive chrome trim may require two days.
On most trim pieces the vinyl is wrapped around the back edge for an invisible finish. Where this is not possible, edges are cut along natural body lines.
Our de-chrome work is guaranteed. If any piece lifts within 12 months of installation under normal conditions, we will re-apply it free of charge.
